Hokies tie for ninth at weather-shortened Magnolia Invitational

FINAL

The Virginia Tech women's golf team posted a two round total of 603 and tied with East Tennessee State and Kansas State for ninth at the Magnolia Invitational. The final round of the tournament was canceled due to inclement weather in the area. The event was played at the par 72, 6,320-yard Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi.

The final results revert back to the end of the second round.

The Hokies return to action Oct. 26-28, as they will compete in Louisville's Fall Intercollegiate. The three-day event will be played at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Georgia.  

ROUND TWO

The Virginia Tech women's golf team has a two round total of 603 and is tied with East Tennessee State and Kansas State for ninth entering the final round of the Magnolia Invitational. The three-day tournament is being played at the par 72, 6,320-yard Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi.
 
Tech posted a 308 in Sunday's first round, but bounced back and finished 13 strokes better in Monday's second round of play.
 
Emily Mahar, a sophomore from Brisbane, Australia, shot a second consecutive 1-under 71 and is tied for sixth individually at 142. She trails leader Anika Bolcikova of Auburn by five strokes.
 
Jessica Spicer, a junior from Bahama, North Carolina, is tied for 38that 150 and Keera Foocharoen, a freshman from Bangkok, Thailand, is tied for 51stat 172. Amanda Hollandsworth, a graduate student from Floyd, Virginia, is tied for 70th at 159 and Elizabeth Bose, a senior from Norfolk, Virginia, is in 72ndplace with a 160.
 
Kennesaw State has the team lead, at a 7under 569, one stroke ahead of co-host Mississippi State and eight strokes ahead of Oklahoma. Co-host Ole Miss and LSU are tied for fourth at 580, Auburn is sixth at 582 and Memphis is seventh at 587. Coastal Carolina is eighth at 601, two strokes ahead of the Hokies, Bucs and Wildcats. Middle Tennessee State is 12th at 607 and Southern Miss is 13th at 612.
 
The final round is set for Tuesday.

Emily Mahar, a sophomore from Brisbane, Australia, shot a 1-under 71 and is tied for fifth individually. She trails leader Kathleen Gallagher of LSU by three strokes.
 
Jessica Spicer, a junior from Bahama, North Carolina, is tied for 33rd at 75 and Keera Foocharoen, a freshman from Bangkok, Thailand, is tied for 60th at 79. Amanda Hollandsworth, a graduate student from Floyd, Virginia, is in 73rd with an 83 and Elizabeth Bose, a senior from Norfolk, Virginia, is in 74th place with an 84.
 
Co-host Mississippi State is tied for the team lead along with Kennesaw State at even par 288, one stroke ahead of Oklahoma and co-host Ole Miss. LSU is fifth at 290, Auburn is sixth at 295, Memphis is seventh at 299 and Southern Miss is eighth at 300. Coastal Carolina and Kansas State are tied for ninth at 306, two strokes ahead of the Hokies, Bucs and Blue Raiders.
 
NOTE: Though live scoring shows the Hokies tied for 12th, the stats list a "B" team from co-host Mississippi State and "B" teams do not count in team standings.
