FINAL ROUND
The Virginia Tech men's golf team posted a three-round total of 907 and finished in ninth place at the Grandover Collegiate. The two-day tournament was played at the par 72, 7,247-yard East Course of the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Hokies posted a 301 in Saturday's morning round and had a 309 in the afternoon's second round. On Sunday, Tech carded a 297 to move up to ninth place overall.
Connor Burgess, a sophomore from Lynchburg, Virginia, led the Hokies. He tied for eighth place with a 1-over 217. He finished six strokes behind medalist David Nyfjall of Northwestern.
Bradley de Beer, a freshman from Western Cape, South Africa, and Slade Pickering, a sophomore from North West, South Africa, tied for 46th at 230. Drew Brockwell, a freshman from Chesterfield, Virginia, tied for 59th and Connor Johnson Jr., a freshman from Richmond, Virginia, tied for 76th at 240.
Three Hokies played the tournament as individuals. Joey Jordan, a senior from Richmond, Virginia, tied for 28th at 224, Cameron Moore, a freshman from Richmond, Virginia, tied for 40th at 228 and Tom Crow, a junior from Virginia Beach, Virginia, tied for 62nd at 233.
Host UNC Greensboro won the tournament with a 5-over, 869, 10 strokes ahead of Liberty and 12 strokes ahead of Northwestern. Penn State was fourth at 887, Mercer was fifth at 893, Michigan State was sixth at 895, Chattanooga was seventh at 901 and East Carolina was eighth at 904, three strokes ahead of the Hokies. Rutgers finished 10th at 915, VCU was 11th at 919 and Appalachian State was 12th at 927.
This was the final event of the fall schedule for the Hokies. Tech returns to the course in February, as they will compete in the Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico Feb. 17-19.
DAY ONE

Slade Pickering, a sophomore from North West, South Africa, is tied for 54th at 154. Bradley de Beer, a freshman from Western Cape, South Africa, and Drew Brockwell, a freshman from Chesterfield, Virginia, are tied for 70th. Connor Johnson Jr., a freshman from Richmond, Virginia, is tied for 82nd place at 163

Host UNC Greensboro leads the tournament with a 5-under, 571. seven strokes ahead of Penn State and nine strokes ahead of Northwestern. Liberty is fourth at 584 Chattanooga is fifth at 591, Michigan State is sixth at 596 and East Carolina is seventh at 597. Mercer is eighth at 599 and VCU is ninth at 608, two strokes ahead of the Hokies and Scarlet Knights. Appalachian State is in 12th place at 614.
The final round will be played Sunday. The Hokies will be grouped with Rutgers and Appalachian State in the 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
