Hokies open Spring 2019 schedule in Puerto Rico

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech men's golf team opens the spring season as they travel to San Juan to compete in the Puerto Rico Classic. The three-day tournament will be played Sunday through at the Wyndham Rio Mar Resort's River Course in suburban San Juan.

PUERTO RICO CLASSIC
This will be the Hokies's 16th consecutive appearance in the Puerto Rico Classic. The River Course of the Wyndham Rio Mar Resort is a par 72, 6,902-yard layout designed by Greg Norman. The Hokies are one of four ACC teams in the 15-team event.

Each year, this event attracts one of the top fields in collegiate golf, This year's event is no different, as it features four teams in the Golfstat.com top 15, led by fourth-ranked Georgia Tech. In all, eight of the team are in the top 50.

The players competing for the Hokies are:
Joey Jordan, senior, Richmond, Virginia; Connor Burgess, sophomore, Lynchburg, Virginia; Slade Pickering, sophomore, North West, South Africa; Connor Johnson Jr., freshman, Richmond, Virginia and Bradley de Beer, freshman, Western Cape, South Africa.
