Volz named ACC Performer of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Deakin Volz of Virginia Tech's track and field team has been named ACC Men's Field Performer of the Week, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
 
This will mark the third time in Volz's career that he is receiving league honors. The senior won his third event title of the season Saturday as he cleared a height of 5.50 meters (18 feet, 0.5 inches). His mark from this past weekend leads the ACC and his season best mark of 5.55 meters (18 feet, 2.5 inches) is ranked No. 10 in the country.
 
Four others were selected by the ACC for weekly honors, including Notre Dame's distance medley relay team (Men's Track), Florida State's Jayla Kirkland (Women's Track) and NC State's Lauren Evans (Women's Field.
 
The Hokies return to Rector Field House as they host the ACC Indoor Championships. The meet will begin on Thursday Feb. 21 at 11:00 a.m. with the Heptathlon.
