Hokies head to Dominican Republic for Tar Heel Classic

The Virginia Tech women's golf team returns to action this weekend at the Tar Heel Classic hosted by Suzy Whaley. The two-day tournament will be played at the renowned Teeth of the Dog Golf Course in La Romana, Dominican Republic.

TAR HEEL CLASSIC HOSTED BY SUZY WHALEY
The 15-team field will play the par 72, 6,140-yard Teeth of the Dog Golf Course at the Casa de Campo Resort and Villas in La Romana, Dominican Republic. The celebrated course, ranked as the top course in the Carribbean and No. 27 in the world, is considered one of Pet Dye's masterpiece layouts. Dye, who has designed many of the top course in North America, is the designer of the Pete Dye River Course at Virginia Tech, the Hokies' home course.
 
The Hokies are one of six ACC teams in the field and one of eight teams ranked in Golfstat.com Top 50. Three Top 20 teams are in the field, led by No. 12 Wake Forest.
 
Play will consist of 36 holes on Friday and 18 holes on Saturday, beginning on March 15. There will be a practice round on Thursday, March 14.

The five players competing this week for the Hokies are:
