Opens in a new window Spec Towns Invitational Final Results

It was another light day for the Virginia Tech track and field teams, but Eszter Bajnok, Chauncey Chambers and Stefanie Aeschlimann stood out as they all finished in the top-3 in their respective events.

After finishing fourth in the long jump yesterday, Bajnok leaped 13.21 meters (43 feet, 4.25 inches) to earn a first-place finish in the triple jump. Her mark is currently the 12th best in the country.

"I am very excited for Eszter's performance today," jumps coach Paul Zalewski said. "It's a top 15 mark in the country in her first competition of the season. We've been putting in a lot of hard training, so to be able to come out and jump this well this early is really promising for what the rest of the season entails."

Aeschlimann didn't finish far behind Bajnok as she took third in the triple with her mark of 12.20 meters (40 feet, 0.5 inches).

On the men's side, Chambers finished second and set a new outdoor personal-best with his mark of 14.96 meters (49 feet, 1 inch) in the triple jump.

(Day One)

It was a light day for the Virginia Tech track and field teams as Eszter Bajnok and Donovan Louis were the lone Hokies competing on Friday afternoon.

Louis jumped a collegiate personal-best mark of 7.17 meters (23 feet, 6.25 inches) to finish fourth in the long jump. With his leap, he was also able to crack the top-10 in the all-time outdoor record book with the 10th best mark in school history.

"Donovan did well today," jumps coach Paul Zalewski said. "It started out a little shaky, but he kept his head, made good adjustments, and came out with a collegiate PR. He's progressing well and I'm looking forward to what's coming for him.

Seeing her first action of the outdoor season, Bajnok finished fourth overall and first among collegiate athletes with her mark of 6.05 meters (19 feet, 10.25 inches).

"It was a solid opening meet for Eszter," Zalewski said. "She made good adjustments during the competition, stayed focused, and competed well. She finished as the top collegian in the meet, and with as much as we have done in training over the last month, I'm encouraged by where we are."
