GREENSBORO, N.C. – Rachel Baxter of Virginia Tech's track and field team has been named Co-ACC Women's Field Performer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
The sophomore from Orange, California tied for the second-best mark in school history at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational last weekend, clearing a height of 4.50 meters (14 feet, 9 inches) to earn her second event title of the outdoor season. She joins Jacory Patterson as the only other Hokie to be selected for the weekly award this outdoor season.
Baxter's mark in Louisville was an all-time personal best, sits third nationally and is the best vault in the league.
Five others were selected by the ACC for weekly honors, including NC State's Cranfort Charleston (Co-Men's Track), Florida State's Andre Ewers (Co-Men's Track), Virginia's Hilmar Jonsson (Men's Field), NC State's Nell Crosby (Women's Track) and Florida State's Shanice Love (Co-Women's Field).
The Hokies are back in action today as the sprinters/hurdlers and distance groups compete at the Liberty Twilight. The meet begins at 11:30 a.m. ET with the first Hokies seeing action at 2:00 p.m.
