Connor Burgess has been named to the first team of the 2019 VaSID All-State University Division Men's Golf team, in voting by the Virginia Sports Information Directors organization. This is Burgess' first selection to the team.
Burgess is a sophomore from Lynchburg, Virginia. He led the Hokies in scoring average this season at 71.88 and had six top 20 finishes, including three in the top 10. He also led the team in rounds of par-or-better, while starting all 11 events. His best finish of the season was seventh at the Schenkel Invitational and he finished ninth in the 2019 ACC Men's Golf Championship.
Virginia's Thomas Walsh was named the Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, as was Liberty's Jeff Thomas as VaSID Coach of the Year. Ian Peng of VCU was named VaSID Rookie of the Year.
Burgess and Walsh were joined on the first team by Liberty's Ervin Change and Gabe Lench and Virginia's Andrew Orischak. The second team consists of Peng and Ignacio De Pineda and Ignacio Montero of James Madison, David Hicks of William & Mary and Kieran Vincent of Liberty.
