Hollandsworth, Mahar earn All-State awards

Amanda Hollandsworth and Emily Mahar have been named to the 2019 VaSID All-State University Division Women's Golf team, in voting by the Virginia Sports Information Directors organization. This is the second selection for both players. Hollandsworth earned first team honors, while Mahar was named to the second team for the second consecutive season.

Hollandsworth, a Floyd, Virginia native, earned her master's degree from Virginia Tech in May. She finished fifth in the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship in Fayetteville, Arkansas in May, the highest finish for a Virginia Tech women's golfer. She also became the first Hokie to qualify for and play in the U.S. Women's Open in June. She was second on the team in scoring average this past season and led the team in Crunch Time scoring average. This is her first appearance on the first team after earning second team honors last season.
 
Mahar, a sophomore from Brisbane, Australia, led the Hokies in scoring in the 2018-19 season and was second in Crunch Time scoring average. She led the team in rounds of par-or-better, with 14. She had a total of six top 20 finishes, highlighted by a second-place finish in the season-opening Minnesota Invitational and a third-place finish at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic to open the spring schedule.

Virginia's Anna Redding was named the 2019 VaSID Player of the Year and the Cavaliers' Ria Scott was named the VaSID Coach of the Year. Jana Melichovaof ODU was named VaSID Rookie of the Year.

Hollandsworth and Redding were joined on the first team by Melichova and Charlotte De Corteof ODU and Beth Lillie of UVa. Mahar was joined on the second team by Beatriz Mosquera Quintasof Radford, Sana Tufailof ODU, Katharine Patrickof UVa and Annie Collomof Richmond.
