Tech success in August and in nonconference matches under Adair
- In its history, Tech holds an overall mark of 42-9-8 in matches played in the month of August, including marks of 25-1-6 at home, 12-7-0 on the road and 5-1-2 in neutral site matches.
- Since 2011, Chugger Adair's first season as head coach, the team has lost just one match in the month - at Alabama, 1-0, Aug. 30, 2018. Overall, the Hokies are 30-1-5 under Adair in the month - 17-0-3 at home, 9-1-0 on the road and 4-0-2 at neutral sites.
- The last time Tech lost in the month before last year's match was a neutral site game versus Long Beach State (2-1) on Aug. 29, 2010 at the Aggieland Invitational Tournament in College Station, Texas.
- The previous road loss in August was two days earlier, against the hosts Texas A&M on Aug. 27 (5-3).
- Tech's lone home loss in August dates back to Aug. 27, 2000 - a 3-2 setback to Seton Hall. The team is now unbeaten in its last 30 matches at home in the month.
- Under Adair, Tech has only lost 13 nonconference matches, nine in the postseason, and only four during the regular season - one at Tennessee, Sept. 10, 2017 (3-1), two matches in Blacksburg - Ohio State on Sept. 1, 2016 (2-1) and Nebraska on Sept. 9, 2011 (4-3), and last year in Tuscaloosa.
- In nine seasons under Adair, Tech is 59-4-6 in nonconference regular-season matches.

The Hokies versus this weekend's opponents (see more Page 2 of game notes)
- Versus Georgia, Tech is 1-0-1 with meetings each of the last two seasons against the Bulldogs.
- In Athens last year, the teams tied 0-0 in double-overtime, while Tech won 1-0 in Blacksburg in 2017. Alani Johnson scored the lone goal in the 18th minute, meaning the two teams have gone without a goal for 182 consecutive minutes and Mandy McGlynn has held Georgia scoreless for 200 straight minutes.
- This will be the first ever meeting between the Hokies and the Auburn Tigers.
- Tech's next three matches are all against SEC opponents (adding the Hokies' Alabama match at home next week) and all-time against current conference foes, the Hokies are 8-6-2.
- On the road, Tech has yet to win a match, but are 5-2-0 in neutral site match-ups, including a 1-0 double-overtime win in last year's NCAA Second Round against Arkansas.

Starting the season unbeaten after two matches and beyond
- For the 10th straight year and 17th overall, Tech is unbeaten after its first two matches, while a 2-0-0 start to the season has now been accomplished for the 12th time, but the first since 2017.
- Extending that to this weekend's matches, the Hokies are seeking their 10th 3-0-0 start in program history while a 4-0-0 start has only been done seven times (Tech started the 2017 season 4-0-0).
- Lastly, all-time after four matches, Tech has been unbeaten 12 times.
