The Virginia Tech men's golf team posted a three-round total of 15-under 849 and finished in ninth place at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Sunday afternoon. The three-day event was played at the par 72, 7,147-yard Blackthorn Club at the Ridges in Jonesborough, Tennessee.
The Hokies shot an even-par 288 on Friday and was in 11th place, but moved up the leaderboard to sixth place with a 13-under 275 on Saturday. The 275 was the third-best round of Saturday. Tech shot a 2-under 286 on Sunday.
Mark Lawrence Jr., a redshirt senior from Richmond, Virginia, led the Hokies at 8-under 208. He finished in ninth place and was seven strokes behind medalist Jack Rhea of host ETSU. Lawrence recorded seven birdies on the day, carding a 2-under 70, his third sub-par round of the weekend.
Connor Burgess, a junior from Lynchburg, Virginia, and Cameron Moore, a sophomore from Richmond, Virginia, tied for 26th at 3-under 213. Daniel Azallion, a freshman from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, tied for 56th at 219 and Connor Johnson Jr., a sophomore from Richmond, Virginia, finished 62nd at 220. Drew Brockwell, a sophomore from Chesterfield, Virginia, played the event as an individual and tied for 47that 218 after a final round 2-under 70.
Moore shot a 5-under 67 on Saturday, a new career-low for him. Lawrence and Azallion had 3-under 69s and Burgess had his second consecutive 70.
Louisville captured the team title at 34-under 830, five strokes ahead of host East Tennessee State and seven strokes ahead of Tennessee. Ole Miss was fourth at 841, UNC Wilmington was fifth at 843, Furman and NC State tied for sixth at 845 and Coastal Carolina was eighth at 846, three strokes ahead of the Hokies. ECU was 10that 853, Missouri was 11that 860, Penn State was 12that 863, Virginia was 13that 865, VCU was 14that 868 and Villanova was 15that 917.
The Hokies wrap up the fall portion of the season Oct. 27-28, as they will compete at the Grandover Collegiate. The two-day tournament, hosted by UNC Greensboro, will be played at the Grandover Resort's East Course in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Host East Tennessee State holds the lead entering Sunday's final round. The Bucs are at 26-under 550, two strokes ahead of first round leader Tennessee and four strokes ahead of Louisville. Ole Miss is fourth at 558 and UNC Wilmington is fifth at 560, three strokes ahead of the Hokies. NC State and Coastal Carolina are tied for seventh at 564, Furman is ninth at 569 and East Carolina is 10that 571. Missouri is 11that 572, Penn State is 12that 577, VCU is 13that 579, Virginia is 14that 583 and Villanova is 15that 616.
The final round will take place on Sunday morning.

Connor Burgess, a junior from Lynchburg, Virginia, is tied for 19th place at 2-under 70 and Connor Johnson Jr., a sophomore from Richmond, Virginia, is tied for 54th at 74. Cameron Moore, a sophomore from Richmond, Virginia, is tied for 60th at 75 and Daniel Azallion, a freshman from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, is tied for 68th at 76.
Drew Brockwell, a sophomore from Chesterfield, Virginia, is playing the event as an individual. He is tied for 49th at 73. Brockwell recorded birdies on three of his final five holes in the afternoon.
Tennessee leads the tournament at 15-under 273, one stroke ahead of Louisville and four strokes ahead of Furman. UNC Wilmington is fourth at 280, host ETSU and NC State are tied for fifth at 281. Coastal Carolina is seventh at 282, Ole Miss and ECU are tied for eighth at 285 and Penn State is 10th at 287, one stroke ahead of the Hokies. Missouri is 12th at 291, Virginia is 13th at 292, VCU is 14th at 299 and Villanova is 15th at 313.
The second round will be played on Saturday and the final round will take place on Sunday morning.
