BLACKSBURG – After snapping its three-game skid, the Virginia Tech men's basketball team will seek to begin a new winning streak on Sunday when it takes on Gardner-Webb at 1:30 p.m. ET at Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum.
The Hokies (7-3) will go up against a foe that it played in the season opener last year, with playing the Runnin' Bulldogs (3-7), a team it beat by a score of 87-59 on Nov. 9, 2018. Tech leads the all-time series 2-0 dating back to 2008, with both games being played in Blacksburg.
Tech coach Mike Young has seen Gardner-Webb twice as well, defeating them when he was at Wofford both times in 2012 and 2013.
The matchup with the Runnin' Bulldogs will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra, with Bailey Angle (play-by-play) and Mack McCarthy (analyst) on the call, while Jon Laaser (play-by-play) and Mike Burnop (analyst) will broadcast on Virginia Tech Sports Properties.

The last time out, Tech defeated Chattanooga (6-5) 63-58 after trailing by four points with five minutes remaining. Freshman Nahiem Alleyne led the charge with a career-high 22 points off of 7-of-13 shooting and five rebounds.
Through 10 games this season, redshirt freshman Landers Nolley II has racked up 186 points, which is the fifth most scored by a Hokie since Tech joined the ACC in 2004-05. Erick Green and Malcolm Delaney occupy Nos. 1-4 and Nickeil Alexander-Walker ranks sixth.
Tech is seventh in the land and first among high-major schools in 3-pointers made per game, averaging 10.8. The Hokies also rank among the top nationally in fewest fouls committed per game, committing 12.4 per game to rank No. 4.
SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
• The Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off a 85-61 loss at Kennesaw State (1-8) on Friday, with the Owls picking up their first win of the season. Gardner-Webb's Eric Jamison Jr. dropped 22 points for the third straight game off of 9-of-16 shooting.
• Tim Craft enters his seventh season as the head coach in Boiling Springs, beginning his term in 2013-14. His best season with Gardner-Webb came this past year, racking up 23 wins – the most of his tenure – which was the most wins in school history since the Runnin' Bulldogs joined Division I (2002).
• Gardner-Webb is paced by Jamison and his 14.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game and Jose Perez, who is second in the Big South in rebounds per game with 6.9 and first in minutes played with 34.
• One of the Runnin' Bulldogs' best stats is that they are second in the Big South in defensive field-goal percentage with holding opponents to shooting 41.9 percent from the field, while owning the second-most blocks in the conference with 64 on the year.
