Hokies add Beatriz Mosquera Quintas for women's golf

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech women's golf coach Carol Robertson has announced the signing of Beatriz Mosquera Quintas to join the Hokies for the 2020-21 season. Quintas is transferring to Virginia Tech from Radford University and will have two years of eligibility remaining, beginning in the fall of 2020.

"The timing of Beatriz's commitment to our team is fantastic and we are excited to welcome her into our program," Robertson said. "She is an extremely talented athlete with worldwide experience that will help keep this program on the upward trend."
 
At Radford, Quintas was named to the Big South All-Conference team and All-Freshman Team last season. She tied for third place at the 2019 Big South Conference Championship and earned All-Championship Team honors. She was also named to the VaSID All-State second team.
 
Quintas recorded a school-record six top-10 finishes, including five top 3 results and maintained a school record 74.47 stroke average last year as a freshman. As a freshman, she won the Benbow Invitational and was the runner-up at the French Broad Collegiate Invitational.  
 
As a junior golfer, she has been a member of her state team in Spain since she was eight years old and a member of Spanish National Team since she was 13. Quintas is a 12-time state champion and twice competed for Spain in a dual match vs. Sweden. She earned the appointment of High Performance Player for the Spanish Government CSD for two years. She has been ranked as high as 781 in Women's World Amateur Golf Rankings. She had three Top 10 finishes including one win in international competition at Alicante Championship.
 
The La Coruña, Spain native is the daughter of Gerardo and Beatriz Quintas and has two siblings, Gerardo and Alvaro.
