BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women's golf team opens the Spring 2020 portion of the season this weekend as it travels to the sunny beaches of Puerto Rico for the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. The three-day tournament will be played at the Wyndham Rio Mar Resort & Rio Mar Country Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, beginning on Sunday.

LADY PUERTO RICO CLASSIC
The 15-team field will play the par 72, 6,200-yard River Course at the Rio Mar Country Club, a Greg Norman-designed course. The Hokies are one of two ACC teams in the tournament, along with NC State. Led by No. 15 Oklahoma State, No. 21 Kentucky and the No. 22 Hokies, six of the 15 teams are ranked in the Top 40. This is the second consecutive year the Hokies have competed in the event, which annually attracts one of the top fields in collegiate golf.
Tournament action will consist of 18 holes of play on each of the three days of competition. There will be a practice round on Saturday, Feb. 8.
The five players in the Hokies' starting line-up are:
Jessica Spicer, senior, Bahama, North Carolina; Emily Mahar, junior, Brisbane, Australia; Keera Foocharoen, sophomore, Bangkok, Thailand; Alyssa Montgomery, freshman, Knoxville, Tennessee and Becca DiNunzio, freshman, Norfolk, Virginia.
