Hokies finish Spring Break at Schenkel Invitational

BLACKSBURG – The Hokies conclude a Spring Break trip by competing in the Schenkel Invitational. The three-day tournament, played Friday through Sunday, will be played at the par 72, 6,947-yard Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Georgia.

SCHENKEL INVITATIONAL
The 14-team event is in its 41st year of competition. This year's tournament, hosted by Georgia Southern, will consist of 18 holes of competition on each day. There is a practice round on Thursday. Tech joins fellow ACC member Notre Dame competing this weekend. The 20th-ranked Fighting Irish is the highest-ranked team in the event.
 
The Schenkel Invitational is one of the oldest and most prestigious events in collegiate golf. Past medalists include Curtis Strange, Justin Thomas, Bubba Watson, Scott Verplank, Bob Tway, Hal Sutton, Andy Bean and Tommy Moore.

The players competing for the Hokies are:

Mark Lawrence Jr., redshirt senior, Richmond, Virginia; Connor Burgess, junior, Lynchburg, Virginia; Cameron Moore, sophomore, Richmond, Virginia; Bradley de Beer, sophomore, Western Cape, South Africa and Daniel Azallion, freshman, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Connor Johnson, sophomore, Richmond, Virginia is competing in the event as an individual.
