Virginia Tech men's golfer Connor Burgess posted a three-round total of 1-under 215 and tied for fifth place at the Golfweek Myrtle Beach Collegiate on Friday. The three-day event was played at the 7,152-yard, par 72 Dye Club at Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Burgess, a rising senior from Lynchburg, Virginia, posted rounds of 70-74-71=215. He birdied three of the final five holes to finish the final round. Teammate Drew Brockwell, a rising junior from Chesterfield, Virginia, tied for 14that 218. He carded rounds of 75-75-68=218 and his final round 68 was tied for the third-lowest round of the day. He had an eagle-3 on the par 5, 543-yard eighth.
Cameron Moore, a rising junior from Richmond, Virginia, tied for 38that 225 and Daniel Azallion, a rising sophomore from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, tied for 43rdat 228.
Landson Robbins, a sophomore at UNCW, took medalist honors at 10-under 206, one stroke ahead of Chase Korte, a rising senior at Austin Peay. Seventy-eight golfers who will compete collegiately this fall, began play on Wednesday morning.
