BLACKSBURG – After a massively successful meet the previous weekend, Virginia Tech track and field hits the roads for two competitions away from home. Most of the squad heads to Clemson to compete in the Tiger Paw Invitational, while two men's pole vaulters will head to Liberty and compete on Saturday.

The Tiger Paw Invite will be broadcast during both days on ACCNX from Clemson, S.C., and live stats for both meets will be made available.

Tech leapt up the USTFCCCA rankings on both the men's and women's side this week. The women's team climbed to 16th in the nation, and the men's team rose to 24th. A couple of Hokies also received individual honors, with Jacory Patterson winning ACC Men's Track Performer of the Week, and Essence Patterson won the award for Women's Field.

Tech Director of Track and Field Dave Cianelli, the reigning ACC Indoor Coach of the Year on the women's side, enters his 20th season in Blacksburg.

ATHLETES TO WATCH

Look for both the men's and women's distance squads to stake their claim as some of the best in the ACC this weekend, as the four four-minute-milers on the men's side try their hands at the 3000m. On the women's side, Lindsey Butler takes on the mile for the first time this season, following three wins in three separate events so far this year.

In the sprints department, Jacory Patterson will look to follow his record-setting 400m dash with another standout result as the ACC Championships approach. Freshman Cameron Rose competes in the 200m once again, following his electric performance last week in which he earned the first win of his collegiate career.

LAST TIME OUT

At the Doc Hale VT Elite Meet last weekend, the Hokies saw several milestone performances. In the men's mile, Bashir Mosavel-Lo, Ben Nibbelink, Ben Fleming, and Antonio Lopez Segura all broke the four-minute barrier. Jacory Patterson notched the ACC season-best mark in the 400m, claiming meet and Rector Field House records along the way. Essence Henderson's first competition of the season saw her break the 13-year-old school record in the shot put, putting her at the top of the ACC standings. Lindsey Butler's 800m time won her the event, put her up to fourth in Tech history, and gives her the fastest time in the ACC this season.
