Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG — The 2021 ACC Men's Golf Championship is set to get underway Friday, April 23 and conclude Monday, April 26 at the Capital City Club's Crabapple Course in Milton, Georgia. Virginia Tech will be paired with Duke and Boston College for Friday's opening 36 holes.
For the third straight tournament, the Hokies will travel Mark Lawrence Jr., Connor Burgess, Charlie Hanson, Cameron Moore and Daniel Azallion. This lineup is coming off a fourth-place showing at the Stitch Intercollegiate in Cary, North Carolina. Tech fired rounds of 275, 277 and 278 to post a season-best, 34-under 830.
Of the 12 teams competing this weekend, 10 are ranked inside Golfstat's top 36, including six teams in the top 25. No. 2 Florida State leads the way and is followed by No. 4 Clemson, No. 6 Wake Forest, No. 8 NC State, No. 16 North Carolina and No. 25 Notre Dame. The ACC leads all conferences with four teams in the top 10, and its six teams in the top 25 ranks second.
This is just the second time the ACC Championship has been played in Georgia and the first since 1997. Capital City Club's Crabapple Course has hosted numerous professional and amateur events, including the 2013 NCAA Championship.
The 2021 edition will feature a new format – 54 holes of stroke play on Friday (36 holes) and Saturday (18 holes) before match play begins Sunday. The top four teams following stroke play will advance to match play semifinals on Sunday, with the finals contested on Monday.
Friday's first round gets underway at 7:30 a.m. with continuous play throughout the day for the second round. Saturday's final round of stroke play is set for a 9 a.m. start.
