Opens in a new window Game Notes

LYNCHBURG, Va. – After its first series loss of the season, the No. 20/19 Virginia Tech softball team visits in-state foe Liberty for the first of two scheduled against the Lady Flames.

Liberty took the last meeting between these two in Lynchburg as part of a home-and-home split in 2018. Tech leads the all-time series versus the Flames 36-15 and is 6-4 in its last 10 games against Liberty.

The Hokies are 18-9 in Lynchburg but have lost the last two meetings at Kamphuis Field. Tech coach Pete D'Amour is 1-2 vs. Liberty in his coaching career but has yet to face the Lady Flames as a Hokie.

MIDWEEK SCHEDULE

Wednesday @ Liberty at 6 p.m. ET | Watch | Stats

LAST TIME OUT

The Hokies lost a close 3-1 contest in the series finale to Notre Dame at Tech Softball Park in Blacksburg. The game finished out a four-game sweep for the Irish and handed the Hokies their first series loss of the season, snapping a league-best seven straight ACC series wins. Believe it or not, Sunday was the largest score differential of the series, as Tech lost the series by just a combined five runs.

Kelsey Brown had her sixth three-hit game of the season Sunday vs. Notre Dame. The sophomore has had nine such games in her career and is currently leading the Hokies in batting average at .416.

Cameron Fagan returned to play in the Notre Dame series after missing the previous 15 games and went 7 for 16 with two RBIs and run scored. The freshman is hitting .411 through 21 games.
