NFL Hokies Week 3 primer

Thursday, Sept. 23
 
Carolina at Houston – 8:20 p.m. ET – NFL Network
Houston QB Tyrod Taylor was placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday with a hamstring injury and will not play in Thursday night's game. Prior to his injury, Taylor had completed 10 passes on 11 attempts for 125 yards and a 22-yard touchdown, while also recording a 15-yard rushing TD. Texans' K Joey Slye went 3 for 3 on extra points last week. He is currently on the practice squad as the Texans potentially clear a roster spot for another QB, but look for Slye to be activated to the 53-man roster for Thursday. The Texans (1-1) host the Panthers (2-0) on this week's Thursday Night Football.

Sunday, Sept. 26
 
Washington at Buffalo – 1 p.m. ET – FOX
The first Hokie vs. Hokie matchup of the 1 p.m. window pits Washington against Buffalo in the Week 3 game that features the most Tech alums. CB Kendall Fuller, DT Tim Settle, TE Logan Thomas and the Football Team visit LB Tremaine Edmunds and the Bills as both teams enter the third week of the season at 1-1. In Week 2, Fuller led Washington with eight tackles (seven solo), 1.0 sack and defended a pass, while Thomas recorded five receptions for 45 yards in the Football Team's thrilling win on Thursday Night Football. Edmunds made three tackles as his Bills' defense shut out Miami.

Chicago at Cleveland – 1 p.m. ET – FOX
Another Hokie vs. Hokie matchup in Week 3 takes place in Cleveland as RB Khalil Herbert and the Bears (1-1) visit G Wyatt Teller and the Browns (1-1). Herbert played on special teams in Chicago's 20-17 win over Cincinnati last week while Teller started at right guard against Houston and cleared the running lane on RB Nick Chubb's 26-yard TD.

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh – 1 p.m. ET – CBS
Despite the Steelers' 26-17 loss at the hands of the Raiders, S Terrell Edmunds had a solid game after starting at strong safety, recording six tackles (five solo) including 2.0 TFL. The Steelers (1-1) will look to bounce back from their first loss when they host the Bengals (1-1) in both teams' first divisional game of the year.

Baltimore at Detroit – 1 p.m. ET – CBS
S Chuck Clark and the Ravens pulled off an 11-point fourth-quarter comeback to take down the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football and move to 1-1 on the season. Clark started at strong safety in the game and recorded two solo tackles. The Ravens visit the 0-2 Lions in Week 3. 
 
Indianapolis at Tennessee – 1 p.m. ET – CBS
CB Caleb Farley was inactive for the Titans' come-from-behind win in overtime in Seattle after he was ruled out due to a shoulder injury. It is unclear if Farley will suit up for a divisional matchup with the Colts. 
 
N.Y. Jets at Denver – 4:05 p.m. ET – CBS
Entering the week at 2-0, CB Kyle Fuller and the Broncos host the 0-2 Jets in the late afternoon window Sunday. Fuller started and made two tackles in Denver's win at Jacksonville in Week 2. 
 
Miami at Las Vegas – 4:05 p.m. ET – CBS
LB Divine Deablo and the Raiders are also 2-0 entering Week 3 and host the 1-1 Dolphins at Allegiant Stadium. Deablo saw reserve action on special teams in Sunday's win at Pittsburgh. 
 
Seattle at Minnesota – 4:25 p.m. ET – FOX
The final potential Hokie vs. Hokie game of Week 3 could see two offensive tackles squaring off as T Duane Brown and the Seahawks visit the Vikings and T Christian Darrisaw. Minnesota's first-round pick has yet to see action for the Vikings after undergoing a surgical procedure during training camp and it is unclear if Darrisaw will suit up. Brown started the Seahawks' overtime loss in Week 2 at left tackle. 
 
Green Bay at San Francisco – 8:20 p.m. ET – NBC
The final game of Week 3 featuring a Tech alum is a Sunday Night Football matchup between the Packers (1-1) and the 49ers (2-0). T Yosh Nijman saw reserve action on special teams for Green Bay in its Monday Night Football win over divisional foe Detroit.
