SOUTH BEND, IND. – Hokies cross country squads took on national competition on Friday, competing at Notre Dame in the Joe Piane Invitational.
Antonio Lopez Segura again paced the Hokies in the men's five-mile race, crossing the line in fifth overall with a time of 23:30.8. Alongside Lopez Segura in the top 100 was Ben Fleming, who finished in 51st with a time of 24:33.5.
On the women's side, Lindsey Butler led the way in the 5k with a time of 16:53.7, finishing in 34th out of 305 runners. Joining Butler in the top 100 were Leigha Torino in 54th and Ashley Smith in 66th.
In the team results, Tech's women's squad finished in 15th of the 25 teams competing with 419 points, while the men took 19th out of the 23 competing programs with 443 points.
Tech returns to Blacksburg next to gear up for the ACC Championships on Oct. 29 at Notre Dame.
