Looking Ahead To Friday
With the Hokies playing at Boston College on Friday, Tech enters a short week between games for the 81st time. Overall, Tech is 52-25-4 all-time when playing with six days or less between games, 10-8-3 on the road. The first game with less than a week between was all the way back in 1896. After beating Alleghany Institute 20-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at Sheib Field, they traveled to Danville, Va. to face North Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 24 – just four days after the previous game.
Tech is currently 18-2 in short week games going back to 1994. Under Coach Fuente, they're 5-1.
Wondering what the shortest number of days between games is? Believe it or not, it's one and it's happened four times! The most recent was in 1907. Tech played Washington & Lee in Lynchburg on Oct. 19, then faced off against Davidson in Roanoke the next day. Our most common opponent, VMI - 13 times.
