Skiera names captains for 2022 season

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech head coach Kristen Skiera announced the squad's captains for the 2022 season Monday. Grad students Morgan Berman and Sarah Lubnow will lead the group in addition to senior defender Jordan Tilley.
 
Berman, a Suwanee, Georgia native, owns 21 starts in 34 career games. She assumed the starting goalkeeper role her sophomore season where she played all 18 games, making 142 saves and logging over 1,000 minutes. Last season she split time after rehabbing an injury that kept her out of the lineup in 2019. 
 
For her career, she owns a 9-11 record, 169 saves and a goals against average of 11.7.
 
Lubnow, Tech's leading point scorer in 2021 registered 52 points with career-bests in goals (23) and assists (29). For her career she ranks third all-time at VT with 56 assists and her 29 last year was the third-most in a single season. Lubnow scored nine points with six assists in a rout over Radford, the third-most assists in a contest by a VT athlete. Those nine points recorded is the fourth-most in a game.
 
On the season, her 2.07 assists per game mark was the third-best in the ACC.
 
She has started 34 of 53 career games.
 
Tilley, has been a staple of Tech's defense for each of her three seasons in Blacksburg, starting 42 of 43 games. She had career highs in 2021 in ground balls with 19 and caused turnovers with 17. 
 
For her career she owns 53 ground balls, 40 caused turnovers and three draw controls.
 
The defender has not been shown a yellow card since her freshman season in 2019.
