LEXINGTON, Va. – Essence Henderson and Alexios Prodanas earned a pair of event wins for Virginia Tech track and field at the VMI Winter Relays on a rest weekend for most of the Hokies.
As the lone competitor for the Hokies during Saturday's action, Essence Henderson won the women's shot put competition with a throw of 16.94m (55' 7"). Her season debut now ranks as the best mark in the ACC so far this season.
Alexios Prodanas finished first in the men's weight throw on Friday with a new personal best of 21.07m (69' 1.5"), moving him into seventh all-time at Virginia Tech. Following just behind was Khalil Bedoui, who took second place with his best mark of 20.52m (67' 4").
In the women's pole vault, freshman Erin Kelleher set a lifetime best en route to a third-place finish, clearing 3.65m (11' 11.5"). Just behind Kelleher was Marley McCall, who cleared the 3.50m (11' 5.5") to place fourth in the event.
