NORFOLK, Va. – For the second match in a row, Virginia Tech narrowly fell – 4-3 – while Ryan Fishback picked up a ranked win on Court 1. The Hokies dropped Sunday's match to No. 45 Old Dominion.
The Monarchs jumped out to an early lead when they clinched to doubles point on Court 2 and Court 3. Jordan Chrysostom and Ryan Fishback led 4-3 when the point was called.
Fishback carried his momentum from a win against No. 26 George Harwell (Vanderbilt) two weeks ago to down No. 60 Francois Le Tallec, 6-2, 6-2, on Court 1.
Old Dominion picked up a win on. Court 6 before Carlo Donato gave Tech its second win of the, 6-3, 6-1.
The win was locked up for Old Dominion after it added result on Court 2 and Court 3.
Alberto Orso, who had already started his third set, continued to battle after the match was clinched. He rebounded from a first set loss to win the second and third set, 6-3, and wrap up the 4-3 result.
