Hokies cruise past Louisville, 75-43

BLACKSBURG – In one of its most complete performances of the season, Virginia Tech cruised to a 75-43 win against Louisville on Tuesday night. With their win, the Hokies have been victorious in nine of their last 10 games.

Justyn Mutts recorded his third double-double of the season, tallying team highs with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Mutts was joined in double figures by Keve Aluma (11) and Darius Maddox (11).

The Hokies seemed to get their shooting mojo back, going 12-28 (42.9%) from deep. Despite still leading the ACC in 3-point percentage, Tech hadn't eclipsed 40% from beyond the arc since playing Pittsburgh on Feb. 7.

Virginia Tech put the clamps on Louisville, restricting the Cardinals to 36.2% shooting from the floor, which is the lowest percentage of an ACC opponent vs. the Hokies this season. Sydney Curry provided a large portion of Louisville's production, scoring 18 of the team's 43 points.

How It Happened

After falling behind 2-0, Virginia Tech went on a 12-0 run with 18:11 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Nahiem Alleyne, to take a 12-2 lead. The Hokies then added two points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 33-21 advantage. Virginia Tech relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down seven shots to account for 21 of its 33 points.

Virginia Tech kept its lead intact before going on a 9-0 run to grow the lead to 47-27 with 14:26 to go in the contest. The Hokies kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 75-43 win. Virginia Tech took care of business in the paint, recording 22 of its 42 points in the lane.
