BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech men's golfer Connor Burgess has been selected to compete in the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship's Columbus Regional on May 16-18, as announced Wednesday afternoon on the Golf Channel.
Burgess is one of 45 individuals selected for six NCAA regional sites. He is one of 10 individuals in Columbus, Ohio.
Burgess, a senior from Lynchburg, Virginia, leads the Hokies in stroke average at 71.30. He had two top-10 showings and a team-best 21 par-or-better rounds.
The Columbus Regional will be played May 16-18 at The Ohio State University Golf Club's Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
This is the fourth NCAA regional appearance for a Tech men's golfer in the last six years. Mark Lawrence Jr. competed in the Stillwater Regional (2021), Raleigh Regional (2018) and West Lafayette Regional (2017).
The top five teams and the top individual not on an advancing team will qualify for the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship finals. The finals this season will be played May 27-June 1 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
