Middle Blocker
Freshman
1. At what age did you begin playing volleyball and what do you love most about playing?
JH: I started playing my freshman year (age 14) and the thing I love most about playing is the moment after winning a big game or even a big point or rally. The excitement and rush you feel as a team is an unbeatable feeling.
2. Why did you choose Virginia Tech?
JH: My parents met at Virginia Tech, so I grew up repping the Hokies. However, when the time came to actually decide on a college, the athletic program and the overall environment really sold me on continuing my family's legacy there.
3. What are you most excited for as you head into your first season as a Hokie?
JH: I am most excited for the first game and getting closer with the team! It's nerve-racking but coming into the next level where everyone shares the same common goal (winning) is extremely exciting because you're introduced to an entirely different aspect of the game.
4. What position do you play and how did you begin playing that position?
JH: I play Middle Blocker. It sounds very generic but I was always the tallest player on my teams growing up, so my coaches naturally put me as MB.
5. What is your major and why did you choose it?
JH: I originally wanted to go into the medical field and possibly pursue physical therapy but currently it is Human Development. However, I plan to change it.
6. Describe yourself in three words
JH: Funny, energetic, determined
7. What is your favorite place to eat at in Blacksburg so far?
JH: Avellino's
8. What does it mean to you to be a Hokie?
JH: To me, being a Hokie means being an individual who sets the standard in all aspects; athletic, academic, social, etc. It means having pride in your school and pride in those who surround you.
