BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech's Taylor Price and Sophie Maltese found the back of the net Thursday night in a 2-0 nonconference victory over Delaware (1-1-1) at Thompson Field.
A native of Ashburn, Virginia, Price scored her second goal of the season for the Hokies (2-0-1) in the 49th minute off a corner kick from Natalie Mitchell. Mitchell vaulted the set piece past the far post where Lauren Gogal headed it down for Price to convert the scoring chance.
Maltese provided the insurance goal in the 68th minute off a rebound from Emmalee McCarter's terrific service into the box that was redirected by Mitchell.
Mitchell ended the match with two assists, running her team-high total to four on the season.
Lauren Hargrove, who recorded her second straight clean sheet, charted two saves in the win. The sophomore from Richmond, Virginia, has logged 234 minutes on the season and hasn't allowed a goal.
