Staying Strong and Looking Forward (9-3-1, 3-2): Virginia Tech saw early success within the conference, defeating two nationally-ranked teams: NC State (1-0) and North Carolina (2-1). The Hokies went on a three-game winning streak before falling to Miami on Thursday, 3-1. Despite holding the shot advantage, 14-8, Tech struggled to make it past the Hurricanes' goalkeeper Melissa Dagenais. Allie George prevented the shutout by scoring in the 82nd minute of the game with a header to the back of the net.

• Scouting Clemson (6-4-2, 2-3): Clemson is coming off a 2-1 victory over Louisville on Thursday, allowing Louisville to score their only goal in the second minute of the match. Clemson had fewer shots throughout the match but was more successful in making its shots count. Clemson deposited two goals in the first 45 minutes to win the game. Opposite of the Hokies, Clemson has capitalized on more opportunities in the first half (107 shots) while allowing opponents to gain strength in the second. Clemson has tallied two wins over nationally-ranked teams this season; both were shutouts: Notre Dame (2-0) and West Virginia (1-0).

Strength in Numbers: Tech boasts some of the strongest players in the ACC. Tori Powell was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. Powell scored her fifth career game-winning goal last Saturday versus No. 3 North Carolina (2-1) in the 85th minute of the match, leading the Hokies to their third straight conference win. Taylor Price earned recognition by College Sports News earlier this week, naming her to the Women's National Team of the Week list. Price has scored six goals this season, including the winning shot versus then-ranked No. 22 NC State (1-0). Freshman Natalie Mitchell continues to find her shots in every match this season, leading the team with 43 shots in 13 games (tied for seventh in the ACC).

Both teams will be closely matched in the net on Sunday as goalkeepers Lauren Hargrove and Halle Mackiewicz step into the box. Hargrove has logged five shutouts this season with 32 saves in 13 games for the Hokies. Mackiewicz has recorded four shutouts this season with 41 saves in 12 games. Both goalkeepers have allowed 16 goals this season. Offensively, Clemson is led by Caroline Conti with four goals and four assists. Conti is a three-time ACC Offensive Player of the Week, and two-time United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week throughout the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

• Shots:  Virginia Tech has taken 224 shots this season while holding opponents to 113 shots. Clemson enters the match with 200 shots on the season, keeping opponents to 125 shots. The Hokies average 17.23 shots per game, compared to the Tigers averaging 16.67.
