BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech head coach Kristen Skiera announced the program's 2023 signing class on Wednesday, which includes 10 student-athletes from five different states.
"I'm super excited for this group of young women to join our family in Blacksburg," Skiera said about the class. "Not only are they exceptional players, but they are fantastic people that will be tremendous value added to HokieNation. They share in our vision for the program and will achieve amazing things, individually and collectively, during their coming years here."
JANE BREWER
Midfield
Sykesville, Maryland
Century High School
Brewer joins the Hokies with an impressive resume that consists of three county championships, two regional championships and a state championship during an undefeated season with Century High School. While playing at Century, she has been named All-County twice.
The daughter of Kelly and Keith Brewer, Brewer has one sibling – Owen. She's a member of the National Honors Society and has been named to her school's Honor Roll. While at Tech, Brewer intends to study Marketing.
MARIE CACCIABAUDO
Midfield
Garden City, New York
Garden City High School
Cacciabaudo will arrive in Blacksburg with two Nassau County Championships (2021 and 2022) and a Long Island Championship (2021). In 2022, Garden City finished runner-up in the Long Island Championship. While with her team, Cacciabaudo has been named All-County. She plays her club lacrosse with the Long Island Jester.
The New York native Cacciabaudo is the daughter of Charles and Jennifer Cacciabaudo and has one sibling – Charles. She's a member of both the Latin and National Honors Society and has been named to the Principal's List. Cacciabaudo plans to major in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise.
SAM CIFRA

The Hill School
The only goalie in the signing class, Cifra will join Virginia Tech following a decorated high school career. While at The Hill School, she was named a 2022 Mid-Atlantic Prep League All-League selection and to the 2022 PASLA All-Academic Team. In 2021, Cifra was named a Under Armour 150 All-Star and MVP for the PASLA Independent League.
Cifra is the daughter of Danielle and Justin Cifra, and has two siblings – Paul and AJ. She's part of the National Honors Society and intends to major in Biochemistry.
LAUREN KELLY
Midfield
Charlotte, N.C.
Myers Park High School
Kelly will join the Hokies after being named an All-American by US Lacrosse, along with being an All-Conference, All-Region and All-State selection. She was named the Greater Charlotte Lacrosse Rising Star Award winner in 2022, as well.
An honor roll student and member of the CTE and Social Studies Honor Society, Kelly plans on majoring in Engineering at Virginia Tech. She's the daughter of Sue and Kevin Kelly, and has two siblings – Andrew and Trevor.
JESS KENT

Westminster, Maryland
Westminster High School
Kent will join Virginia Tech as a four-year start for both the West Minster lacrosse and field hockey team. She has been the team captain and a first-team All-Conference selection in both sports. In field hockey, Kent is a three-time regional champion and a state champion, while her team's leader in goals.
When she arrives at Virginia Tech, Kent intends to study Residential Environments and Design. She's the daughter of Jeff and Tracy Kent, and has two siblings – Jeanine and Nate.
CASSANDRA MONTGOMERY

Columbia, Maryland
Wilde Lake High School
Montgomery will join the Hokies after a successful high school career that included seasons in which she led her team in goals, assists, ground balls and turnovers. She was also a second-team All-County selection and named an Academic All-American. In the classroom, she's been named to the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and the honor roll all throughout high school.
The daughter of Steven and Patricia Luna Montgomery, Montgomery has one sibling – her brother Sean. She plans on studying Human Nutrition, Food and Exercise when she arrives at Tech.
ALLY PETERSON

Somerville High School
Peterson will join Virginia Tech after being named a nominee for the top lacrosse player in New Jersey twice in her sophomore and junior year. In her sophomore campaign, she gained All-Conference recognition. Last season, Peterson led her class in the forced turnovers in New Jersey. While with Somerville, Peterson has been a conference champion twice.
In the classroom, Peterson has been named to the honor roll in every period of high school, along with participating in a peer mentorship program. She is the daughter of Erik and Kellie Peterson, and has one sibling – Hannah. Peterson plans to study Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise.
MIA POZZI

Baldwinsville, New York
Charles W. Baker High School
Pozzi, a midfielder and draw specialist, will bring a championship pedigree to the Hokies after claiming sectional, regional and state championships with her high school team. While with her Baker High School, she was named All-SCAC Metro first team and the state championship All-Tournament team. The midfielder led her team in draw controls and was second in both goals and assists.
The daughter of Rebecca Speno and Joseph Pozzi, the Baldwinsville native Pozzi has three siblings – Max, Rocco and Giovanna. She's a member of the National Honor Society and plans to study Business at Tech.
ZOEE STENCIL

Severn School
Stencil will join Virginia Tech following a career as a four-year varsity start at Severn School. While with Severn, Stencil became the school's second leading scorer in high school. Stencil played club ball with M&D Black, achieving a ranking as high as No. 5 in the country by US Club Lax.
An honor roll student all throughout high school, Stencil plans to study Commercial Development and Investment at Tech. She is the daughter of Christopher and Rachel Stencil, and has one sibling – Cole.
ISA TORRES
Midfield
Glenelg, Maryland
Glenelg High School
Torres will join the Hokies as a well-decorated player from Maryland. She has been named first-team All-County, All-Tournament MVP for UA and twice to the UA Baltimore team. Torres has been regarded as a five-star recruit by Inside Lacrosse and was a regional runner-up with Glenelg High School.
There's a strong family connection with Torres, as her older sister Jocelyn is a freshman on the lacrosse team. Torres plans to study Business at Virginia Tech.
