BLACKSBURG – For the fifth-consecutive season, Virginia Tech is 3-0 to start the season. The Hokies' third victory in the first week of the 2022-23 came in the form of 94-77 triumph over William & Mary on Sunday night.
HOT START FROM DEEP
- Through three games, the Hokies are shooting .449 from beyond the arc, which is the highest percentage through three games since Tech joined the ACC in 2004.
- Three Hokies are shooting .471 or higher from deep (min. 10 attempts): Grant Basile, Hunter Cattoor and Sean Pedulla.
- Virginia Tech is the only ACC team with three players shooting .400 or higher (min. 2.5 3FGA/game) from three-point range.
BANNER NIGHT FROM THREE
- On the same night that Virginia Tech unveiled its ACC title banner in the rafters, Cattoor put on a performance that reminded many of his MVP performance in ACC Tournament championship game.
- Cattoor shot 6-10 from deep, marking the third time in his career that he's made six or more 3FG in a game.
- Pedulla put up a career high 22 points, shooting 4-7 from beyond the arc. Sunday night's performance was Pedulla's fourth-straight game with 18+ points dating back to the last game of the 2021-22 season.
A CLASS OF HIS OWN
- Of the 15 coaches to lead Virginia Tech for four or more seasons, Mike Young is the first to start 3-0 in all four seasons.
- The Hokies have started at least 4-0 in each of Young's previous three seasons at the helm.
- In the month of November, Tech is 17-4 under Young, including two wins against No. 3-ranked opponents (Michigan State and Villanova).
