BLACKSBURG – Newcomer Judson Lincoln IV leads the Atlantic Coast Conference finishing first in the men's 400-meters on Saturday at the Hokie Invitational. Lincoln IV clocked a personal-best time of 46.50, second fastest time in program history.
Kennedy Harrison fought to keep pace with Lincoln IV finishing closely behind in second with personal-best time of 46.74. Sophomore Ali Diaby ran a sub-22.0 in the first lap to set the tone in heat two. Diaby finished first in his heat with a personal-best time of 47.34, third overall. Lincoln IV, Harrison, and Diaby own the top three spots in the men's 400m in the ACC.
Sprints / Hurdles
Ranked fifth in the ACC, Layla Anderson clocked a personal-best time of 23.85 in the women's 200-meters. Anderson is ranked second in the conference in the 60m hurdles after finishing first on day one of the Hokie Invitational, personal-best time of 8.26.
Jumps
Chauncey Chambers made himself the man to beat clearing 52'5" (16m) on his first attempt of the day in the men's triple jump. Chambers improved his marked to a season-best 52'11.5" (16.14m) on his second jump to secure the victory. Chambers moved up three spots to fourth in the NCAA.
In the women's triple, Cierra Pyles controlled the field in round one reaching 40'11.5" (12.48m). Jordan Hardy from Virginia put on the pressure on Pyles as she took the lead jumping 41'2.5" (12.56m) on her third attempt. Pyles came up short in the fourth, but prevailed over Hardy as she recorded a season-best 41'8" (12.70m) in the fifth of six round.
The Hokies took flight in the men's high jump finishing second, third, and fourth. Aidan Clark finishing second clearing 6'10.25" (2.09m) on his first attempt. Elijah Bell earned third clearing the same height on his second attempt. Sean Murphy finished fourth with a personal-best 6'8.25" (2.04m).
Throws
Czech thrower Katrin Brzyszkowska warms up to collegiate competition in the United States finishing second in her season-debut. Brzyszkowska sent the shot flying 53'7" (16.33m) on her final attempt scoring the fifth-best mark in the NCAA.
Pole Vault
Junior Jacob Rice leaped over the bar at 16'11" (5.16m). Rice had three-attempts at setting a personal-best 17'5" (5.31m) but ran low on fuel ending the day in second.
