BLACKSBURG – Fresh off a thrilling 78-75 triumph over Duke on Monday, Virginia Tech looks to add another win on Saturday night inside Cassell Coliseum against Syracuse. Wes Durham and Dan Bonner will have the call on ACC Network for Tech's second matchup of the season with the Orange, while Zach Mackey and Mike Burnop will provide coverage for the Virginia Tech Sports Network.

SCOUTING THE ORANGE
- Syracuse is 2-2 in its contests since defeating the Hokies, 82-72, on Jan. 11 at the JMA Wireless Dome. Senior guard Joseph Girard III lit up Tech that evening, going for 24 points.
- With Girard III (17.5) and Judah Mintz (15.0), the Orange are one of four teams (North Carolina, NC State and Pitt) that have multiple players among the ACC's top-15 scorers. Down low, Jesse Edwards (10.6) ranks second in the league in rebounding.
- Coming off a loss to North Carolina on Tuesday, Syracuse hasn't dropped back-to-back games since a three-game skid against St. John's, Bryant and No. 16 Illinois between Nov. 22-29.
The Series
- Virginia Tech trails 12-6 in the all-time series against Syracuse after dropping an 82-72 road decision to the Orange on Jan. 11.
- The Hokies have won three of the last six matchups, including last season's lone meeting – a 71-59 Tech victory in Blacksburg.
- The first game of the series was played on Feb. 28, 1976 in Syracuse - a 92-81 win by the Hokies.
- Tech is 4-3 against the Orange inside Cassell, including 1-1 under Mike Young.
- Jim Boeheim has been Syracuse's head coach in all but one game in the Virginia Tech series - missing the first one.
HOKIE HEADLINES
- After a tough run of seven games, including five decided by five points or less, Tech returned to the win column against Duke with a 78-75 victory on Big Monday.
- Grant Basile produced his fourth game as a Hokie of at least 20 points by dialing up 24 points on 10 of 15 shooting.
- Hunter Cattoor delivered his best outing since returning from injury, going 5 for 10 from long range for 15 points.
- Tech shot a season-best 52.6% from downtown
SHOES FOR HOPE
- In conjunction with Coaches vs. Cancer week, the Tech coaching staff will be wearing specially-designed shoes at Saturday's game vs. Syracuse. On Dec. 15, select players and staff visited the Carilion Children's Tanglewood Center in Roanoke to help design shoes for the coaching staff to wear for the Jan. 28 game.
