GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech concluded the fourth day of the 2023 ACC Championships with one bronze medal won by Carles Coll Marti in the 100 breast, a new school record in the 100 back by Youssef Ramadan and four more top 10 times in school history. 

HIGHLIGHTS

Women

Swimming in the B-final, Carmen Weiler Sastre placed 13th in the 100 back with a time of 52.71. Two places behind her, teammate Caroline Bentz clocked in at 15th with a time of 53.20. 

Finishing the night for the women, Emma Atkinson, Fanni Gyurinovics, Karisa Franz and Sarah Shackelford finished the 400 medley relay at 3:34.25, making their way to the seventh fastest time in school history.  

Men

To start off the night on a high note, freshman Landon Gentry took fifth in the men's 200 fly Championship heat with a time of 1:42.70. Gentry worked his way up to the fifth top time in school history. 

The Hokies had five swimmers advance to finals in the 100 breast. Freshman Ethan Maloney tied for eighth during prelims at 52.81. Swimming in an intense swim-off for a spot in the A-final, Maloney clocked in at 51.95, earning his place in the Championship heat and the fourth spot on the Tech top 10 board. 

Carles Coll Marti won bronze in this event during finals, swimming a 51.57 100 breast. In seventh place, Ethan Maloney finished at 52.29 and right behind him in eighth, AJ Pouch finished at 52.60. 

Ending with a strong finish, Ramadan, Pouch, Mario Molla Yanes and Luis Dominguez placed fourth in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:03.40. This relay made it into the second top time in school history and Ramadan's lead-off in the 100 back at 44.59 made a new school record.
