Albuquerque, N.M. – The 2023 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships drew to a close as the Virginia Tech Hokies tallied up 10 All-American honors.
Junior Lindsey Butler finished 10th in the women's mile clocking a time of 4:45.65. Butler started the race in fourth place rounding the first 200-meters, before falling back to 10th with two laps to go. Unable to make up ground, the three-time NCAA First Team All-American ended the event claiming her first second team All-American honors.
Junior Victoria Gorlova started Day Two for the Hokies finishing 15th in the women's triple jump with a distance of 43' 5" (13.23m). In the men's triple jump, Chauncey Chambers finished 15th with a distance of 52' 3.75" (15.94m) Gorlova and Chambers earned their second career indoor All-American honors.
On Day One of the NCAA Championships, freshman Kenna Stimmel claimed fourth place in the women's pole vault event clearing a height of 14' 5.25 (4.40m). Senior Rebecca Mammel earned her third career NCAA trophy finishing seventh in the women's weight throw with a distance of 73' 11.5" (22.54m) in the finals. Stimmel's and Mammel's top eight finishes earned them first team All-American honors.
The Virginia Tech women's track and field team claimed 28th place with seven points.
Hokies end the 2023 indoor season with two first team All-Americans and eight second team honors. Prior to the NCAAs, the men's and women's teams won the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championship titles for a second-consecutive year.
