Hokies travel to the Sunshine State for ACC road trip

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech women's tennis (10-6, 1-5) embarks on a conference road trip to the Sunshine State taking on No. 35 Florida State and No. 13 Miami, respectively.
 

BUILDING ON ACC SUCCESS
Terry-Ann Zawacki and Co. put together one of their best performances of the season to capture their first ACC win of the season against Louisville last week, 5-2. Despite falling behind 1-0, the Hokies never waivered with Özlem Uslu coasting to her 11th win of the season, 6-2, 6-3. Katie Andreini carried the momentum on Court 6 with a straight-set victory of her own to put Tech ahead and the Hokies never looked back. Coming into this weekends ACC matchup the Hokies boast three players with 10 or more singles victories; Katie Andreini (12), Özlem Uslu (11), Tamara Barad Itzhaki (10). Semra Aksu and Barad Itzhaki remain the top pairing for the Hokies with an 8-3 mark.

SEMINOLES
Florida State slot in at ninth in the ACC standings with a record of 9-6 overall and a 2-3 conference record including a 5-2 win over No. 19 Wake Forest. The Seminoles welcome the Hokies after a two-match winning streak where they outscored their non-conference foes 10-0. The Noles are lead by senior Vic Allen as the only player with double-digit wins holding a 10-3 mark that including a ranked win. Junior Anna Arkadianou claims the highest ranking for FSU at No. 67 playing on Court 1. Arkadinou and freshman Millie Bissett boast a 4-1 record as a pairing and rank as the No. 49 duo in the nation.

HURRICANES
Miami has been one of the best teams in the ACC this season with a 9-3 record and 4-1 conference mark highlighted by six ranked victories. Redshirt-sophomore standout Alexa Noel headlines this Hurricane squad ranked No. 11 in the nation coming off of her second consecutive ACC Player of the Week honor. The 'Canes are coming off of a hard-fought loss against No. 2 Texas A&M, 5-2, producing an impressive performance in doubles behind fifth-year senior Daevenia Achong and fourth-year junior Maya Tahan defeating No. 47 Salma Ewing and Jayci Goldsmith, 6-3.
