BLACKSBURG – Victorious during six of its last eight games, the Virginia Tech baseball team (21-12, 8-9 ACC) will look to stay on its winning trend on Tuesday, April 18, when it visits nearby Radford (7-30, 0-12 Big South) for a non-conference game at Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium.
 
Tuesday's game between the Hokies and the Highlanders will air live on ESPN+ with coverage beginning at 6 p.m. Fans may also listen to Tuesday's game as called by the voice of Tech baseball, Evan Hughes, on the Virginia Tech Sports Network.

  • Virginia Tech is 6-1 during midweek games this season, having suffered its first defeat last Tuesday at home against Liberty. The Hokies' April 11 defeat to the Flames snapped their streak of 15 consecutive regular season midweek victories that had dated back to March 15, 2022.
  • This season, the Hokies have combined to outscore their midweek opponents by the 84-29 margin. Tech has averaged 13.03 runs per nine innings during midweek play while allowing 4.14 runs per nine innings.

  • Virginia Tech has won seven consecutive series meetings against Radford, including its 17-2 victory against the Highlanders on Feb. 28 at English Field.
  • The Hokies lead the all-time series against the Highlanders, 52-15.
  • Fifth-year shortstop David Bryant transferred to Virginia Tech after playing four seasons at Radford, where he started 143 of his 148 career appearances. Bryant batted .306 with the Highlanders, racking up 157 hits, 29 doubles, four triples, 10 home runs, 94 RBIs and 26 stolen bases. He is coming off his first career multi-homer game, as earned on Sunday against Georgia Tech (two home runs, four RBIs).​
