BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football met with local media following its practice on Friday to discuss the status of fall camp. Head coach Brent Pry spoke first during the media availability, followed by sophomore cornerback Mansoor Delane. Read and watch below to see what they had to say.

Head Coach Brent Pry

On quarterback Kyron Drones' development during fall camp:
"I think the understanding of our offense and then seeing his confidence level rise. I don't know that you could play quarterback without being confident. Early on it was the same way in the spring. Practice by practice you saw him make a few more plays and then you saw him get a little better. It was the same thing this camp."

On quarterback Grant Wells second year with Tech:
"Yeah, I'll tell you what he's just throwing a very accurate ball. You talk about a guy in man-to-man coverage, the defense is giving him a bunch of it, he can place the ball where it needs to be. I said that last year, he's one of the more accurate guys that I've been with. I think he's making faster decisions. When I stand behind him watching the offense, I realize guys coming open and he's seeing it sooner. He's able to throw it in a more timely fashion."

Cornerback Mansoor Delane

On his confidence with young defensive back depth:
"Day by day improvements. So, it really encourages me when they mess up on something and then coach or me tells them how to fix it, and they come out the next day and improve on that. That just tells me that they're coachable and they're going to keep making strides to get better as a player."
