Hokies settle for goalless draw against Hoosiers

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Virginia Tech women's soccer (1-0-1) was unable to find the back of net in Bloomington, Ind., on Sunday, Aug. 20, and ultimately settled for a goalless draw against Indiana (1-0-1).

"We are a little disappointed with the results today," said head coach Chugger Adair. "I think we struggled to rise above Indiana's direct style of play. We did not do a good job of winning first and second balls, putting ourselves into a little bit of pressure. We didn't create enough chances to test their goalkeeper and we could have been a bit more attacking at certain moments.

"The good note of the day is that we were able to come out with a shutout. I am pleased that we made it through the weekend with two shutouts and look forward to bringing the action home on Thursday night."

How it Happened
Virginia Tech faced a seven shot deficit against the Hoosiers (4-11), allowing four shots on goal in the second half. Goalkeeper Alia Skinner remained strong having yet to concede a single goal through 180 minutes of play. Skinner recorded her second shutout of the season, tallying seven saves in the first two matches.

Tech's defensive fought hard to keep the Hoosiers at bay in the first half with Indiana struggling to make a single shot on goal. The Hokies were unable to claim their second-straight win of the season after putting zero shots on target in the second.

For the second time in two years, Tech remains scoreless against Indiana.

The Hokies return back to Blacksburg on Thursday, Aug. 24 for their home opener against James Madison at 7:00 p.m. on Thompson Field.
