WASHINGTON, D.C. – Virginia Tech women's soccer suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday, Aug. 27 against No. 20 Georgetown 1-0.
"I am disappointed in the overall result today," said head coach Chugger Adair. "I thought it was a very good match that could have gone either way but I am proud of the ladies efforts. I think our team played well, we just didn't do enough to get the results. Georgetown is a very good team that is hard to break down. We created a handful of really good chances but just couldn't put one anyway."
How it Happened
Senior Taylor Bryan came out strong in the first half taking the first shot on goal in the second minute of the match. The Hokies (2-1-1) were out to prove that they could hold their own against the Hoyas (3-0-1) heading into the locker room 0-0 at the half.
Hoyas' Maja Lardner delivered the Hokies their first loss of the season with a goal in the 49th minute of the match. Goalkeeper Alia Skinner made 13 saves on the season before giving up a single goal. Georgetown put Skinner to the test attempting 6 shots on goal.
