BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech Football met with the local media for the first time during fall camp on Thursday. Head coach Brent Pry, safety Nasir Peoples and offensive lineman Parker Clements spoke at the media availability after the team's first two practices. Read what they had to say below.

Head Coach Brent Pry

On Tyler Bowen joining the quarterbacks' room:
"I think the relationship, the communication, you're not going through somebody else. Everybody knows how second-hand news is, right? It's never as good as hearing it in first-person. I think having him in there is awesome. We've already benefited from that. The relationship, the communication, the finer points. Very happy with that decision."

Safety Nasir Peoples

On the differences in camp so far this year compared to last year:
"Just the competition amping up. That's a big thing Coach Pry always talks about. Just the competition, going against guys head-to-head. You know we got a lot of new guys and I think that's bringing out the best in all of us."

Offensive Lineman Parker Clements

On mentoring younger guys along the offensive line:
"I do everything I can, whether it's watching their first step, hand placement, all that stuff. I try to mentor them as much as I can. Like you said, especially those young guys. I do everything I can. They're taking it well and they're really coachable guys."
