BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football met with the local media for its weekly press conference ahead of its road matchup with Rutgers. Brent Pry stepped onto the podium first and was followed by redshirt senior Alan Tisdale.
Read below to see what they had to say.
Head coach Brent Pry
On quarterback Kyron Drones showcasing his skillset in-game:
"I was very pleased with the way Kyron operated. I thought he was level-headed. He wasn't rattled. He had some rush. He stepped up, made a nice throw. There was some challenging coverage. Obviously, it was a tough situation in the game, but we end up with the ball on the 40, trying to go tie it up."
On linebacker Keli Lawson's performance against Purdue:
"Plenty to improve on for Keli but played a much-improved game from week one. Fits, I thought he really threw his body around. Like I've seen him do in the past, in scrimmages and maybe towards the tail end of last season. He's a big, long guy when he plays hard, he's hard to handle. A few clips he was down the middle of guys, and he gets in trouble when he does that, but was pleased with the progress from week one to week two. Certainly, had a bunch of tackles out there, him and Strowman both."
Linebacker Alan Tisdale
On role models, he looks up to being a father:
"Coach Chris Marve, you know, me and him got a very close relationship. I know he has a newborn, so normally like before he had a newborn, I'd give him a call at 9 or 10 o'clock just to talk about life or it could be about ball. But yeah, that man, he's been there for me since day one. So, I look at him and how he is in life as a man, on and off the field. He's a great person."
