BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football's Bhayshul Tuten will wear the No. 25 jersey during the Maroon Effect game against Wake Forest.

Tech's Homecoming game will be Tuten's first time wearing the iconic number. Since transferring from North Carolina A&T prior to the start of the season, he has been one of the best playmakers for the Hokies. Primarily handling the lead tailback role for the offense, the junior athlete made a game-changing special teams play against Florida State, returning a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. Tuten's return to open the second half helped him earn ACC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

"It feels amazing to be nominated to wear 25 this week," Tuten said. "Coach Beamer, it's a great legacy to wear that number during the game. It's a huge honor. I'm definitely looking forward to it."

The Paulsboro, New Jersey native has returned eight kicks for 253 yards and a touchdown. His biggest impact throughout the season has come out of the backfield. Tuten has 330 rushing yards and two touchdowns, as well as hauling in 16 receptions for 157 yards and a pair of scores.

Tech retired Frank Beamer's No. 25 jersey in 2002, and since the start of the 2016 season, the Hokies have been paying homage to Tech's legacy of excellence on special teams by selecting a different special teams athlete each week to wear the honorary Beamer 25 jersey. For more information on who has worn it in the past.
