Drones, Tuten grab ACC Player of the Week honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Virginia Tech quarterback Kyron Drones and running back Bhayshul Tuten have earned ACC Player of the Week honors following the Hokies' 38-21 win over Pittsburgh Saturday night.
 
Drones (6-2, 234) is the conference's Quarterback of the Week, after accounting for five touchdowns against the Panthers. The Pearland, Texas product completed 12 of 19 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns. Drones also rushed for 41 yards and two scores.
 
The redshirt sophomore signal-caller picked up his first win as a starting quarterback, becoming the first Tech player to account for five touchdowns in a game since 2017. Drones is just the sixth Hokie to account for at least five scores in a game since 2000.
 
Tuten (5-11, 205) is the ACC Running Back of the Week for the first time after rushing 24 times for 109 yards against Pitt. The Paulsboro, New Jersey native also registered four receptions for 37 yards including a 12-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Tuten now has 11 career 100-yard rushing games.



The Hokies travel to Tallahassee, Florida Saturday to face 5th-ranked Florida State in a 3:30 p.m. ET kick on ABC.
