BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech netted three goals in the second half to secure a 4-1 victory over NC State on Thursday night in Blacksburg, giving the Hokies their second conference win of the season.
The Hokies' record improves to 6-4-3 (3-2 ACC), while NC State drops to 1-7-5 (0-3-2 ACC).
How it Happened
Eden Skyers' Olympico in the 14th minute gave the Hokies an early 1-0 lead over the Wolfpack.
NC State's Alexis Strickland equalized the match 1-1 in the 21st minute scoring the Wolfpack's lone goal of the night.
Senior Taylor Byran lit the fire for the Hokies in the second half, scoring the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute assisted by Samantha DeGuzman.
Through three defenders, Natalie Mitchell found the back of the net for a seventh time this season giving the Hokies a 3-1 lead in the 72nd minute.
DeGuzman's 77th-minute goal would lock in the game for the Hokies 4-1 over the Wolfpack.
