TUSCALOOSA, AL --The No. 16/12 Virginia Tech Hokies were not able to record a run against Alabama pitcher senior Kayla Beaver on Friday despite totaling five hits and were shut out 1-0 by the No. 13/15 Crimson Tide.
Junior Emma Lemley (5-2) got the ball to start for Virginia Tech (24-5-1) and took the loss. The right-hander went six innings, giving up one run on two hits, allowing one walk and striking out seven.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Virginia Tech did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Hokies went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the sixth, when senior Addy Greene made it into scoring position with one out.
GAME NOTES
