COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Virginia Tech men's and women's track and field team closed out its three meet weekend on Saturday competing at the USC Open. 

Sophomore Conner McClure won the men's pole vault clearing 17' 11.25" (5.47m). McClure was the only athlete in the field of 21 men to clear 5.37m. Teammate Maddox Hamm finished second clearing 17' 3.50" (5.27m) on his second attempt. 

Senior Journey Gurley tied for second among collegiate athletes in the women's pole vault clearing the bar at a height of 13' 11.25" (4.25m). Chiara Sistermann, Erin Kelleher, and Kennedy Drish tied for fourth at 12' 9.50" (3.90m). 

In Charlottesville, Sara Killinen finished second in hammer throw among collegiate athletes with a season-best mark of 222' 10" (67.92m) in the second round. Killinen moved up to sixth on the NCAA performance list and first in the ACC. She is the only female athlete in the conference to have cleared over 63 meters this season. 

Sophomore Katrin Brzyszkowska claimed first in the women's shot put with a first round mark of 54' 0.25" (16.47m). 

Aidan Clark placed first in the men's high jump clearing the bar at height of 7' 0.25 (2.14m). Brandon Burke finished third jumping 6' 11" (2.11m), followed by EJ Bell in fifth at 6' 9" (2.06m). 

On Friday, Senior Lindsey Butler recorded her fifth program record at Virginia Tech competing in the 1500m invite at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. Butler crossed the finish line third among collegiate athletes with a personal-best time of 4:07.96. 

Up Next 
Sprints, jumps, and pole vault travel back to Florida to compete at the East Coast Relays in Jacksonville on April 26 - 27. Throws will travel to Des Moines, Iowa to compete at the Drake Relays.
