No. 13/15 Virginia Tech falls to Syracuse 2-1

SYRACUSE, N.Y. --Despite picking up five hits in the ballgame and out-hitting Syracuse, No. 13/15 Virginia Tech was unable to push across more runs, as the Hokies fell to the Orange 2-1 Friday.

Junior Emma Lemley (11-5) started and took the loss in the circle for Virginia Tech (37-10-1, 17-5). The right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on four hits, allowing two walks and striking out four.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hokies were trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Junior Cori McMillan put Virginia Tech on the board with a leadoff home run off senior Lindsey Hendrix. Syracuse then scored one time over the remaining three innings to break the tie and grab the 2-1 win.

GAME NOTES
