LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech men's and women's track and field teams closed out the regular season in Lynchburg, Va. on Friday competing at the Hill City Twilight.
800m
Sophomore Nick Plant crossed the finish line first in the men's 800m clocking in a personal-best time of 1:46.35. Plant ends the regular season ranked 13th in the 800m and 14th in the 1500m (3:38.93) set at the Wake Forsest Invitational on Apr. 19.
Senior Lindsey Butler won the women's 800m with a season-best time of 2:02.65, ranked 17th in the NCAA. Butler ranks third in the 1500m after breaking the program record with a time of 4:07.96 competing at Wake Forest.
3000m Steeple
Tech women finished 1-2-3 in the 3000m steeplechase with Mary Kate McGranahan leading the way for the Hokies. McGranahan stopped the clock at 10:32.59, followed by Lila Waters in second (10:46.38) and Chase Kappeler in third (11:07.66).
Freshman Colin Doran claimed first in the men's steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:06.20.
5000m
Arnav Tikhe, Trevor Mason, and Sam Hubert claimed first, second, and third in the men's 5000m, respectively. Tikhe clocked in a time of 14:32.89, followed by Mason with a time of 14:47.68 and Hubert at 14:50.53.
Freshman Kylie Bonser finished first in the women's 5000m with a time of 17:38.80.
1500m
Ethan Coleman crossed the finish line first for the Hokies at 3:42.15 in the men's 1500m, finishing third. Ethan Mills placed fourth with a time of 3:42.41. Ava Hassebrock took third in the women's race clocking in at 4:22.56.
Pole Vault
Senior Journey Gurley finished first in the women's pole vault clearing a height of 13' 8.25" (4.17m) on her second attempt. Kennedy Drish placed second clearing a season-best height of 13' 6.25" (4.12m).
In the men's event, Joey Badalamenti placed second with a personal-best clearance of 16' 11" (5.16m).

Up Next, Virginia Tech travels to Atlanta, Ga. on May 9 - 11 to compete at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
